Why Become a Prepper?

Even if you’re not well-acquainted with the world of prepping, or have zero interest in taking part in it, you’ve likely heard of it and wonder what the appeal is. But before you write it off as something you’ll never need, take a few moments and read about why prepping is a good idea and one that could save your life.

At The Atomic Bear, we have survival gear and prepping supplies that are effective and affordable. For self-defense and quick escapes, you’ll love our SWAT Pen, and to grow food in the event that something disastrous happens, you’ll want to have our Arma’Garden Heirloom Seeds for Preppers pack. Shop our store today!

Here are just some of the scenarios you’ll want to prepare for.

Massive Long-Term Loss of Power

We’ve all suffered a short-term power outage, whether from a storm, accident, or something else. While it was most likely an inconvenience, you probably were able to move on with your life. But what if something long-term or permanent happens, and your power loss is indefinite? Most people aren’t prepared for this and would have to rely on the kindness of neighbors or family.

Natural Disaster

A tornado, hurricane, flood, or other destructive event can many times be life-changing. If you’re fortunate enough to still have a home over your head, the community surrounding you might not have fared so well. Stores will likely have been looted, power gone, and communication impossible. Some communities can take months or years to be restored, and you’re going to be on your own for resources.

Terrorist Event/Act of War

We feel pretty safe for the most part, but complacency can lead to being unable to defend your home and family, not being able to feed yourself, and the inability to provide medical care in the event of injury. Government, financial, and civil infrastructures will likely be down, and you’ll only have yourself to depend on for food, defense, and medical care.

Financial Collapse

Many of us are so reliant on our plastic and electronic forms of payment that we haven’t given much thought to what could happen in the event of a financial collapse. And the issue isn’t just related to how much money you will have stockpiled. There will be a lack of food, infrastructure, power and water outages, civil unrest, and hospitals will likely not be able to function as they once did.

There are, of course, other scenarios that you’ll need to prep for. But in the end, it doesn’t matter what it is you’re prepping for as much as how prepared you are for a crisis. Over the coming months, The Atomic Bear will publish information on how to survive events, self-defense, and more.
